Money Smart Week: Avoiding Medicare Fraud & Identity Theft

Are you or loved one on Medicare? Come to our presentation on how to avoid Medicare fraud. There are a number of scams directed to people on Medicare. Learn how to tell the difference between a good deal and a complete scam. We will also discuss how to protect your medicare number, reviewing your summaries of benefits, reporting issues to Senior Medicare Patrol, as well as how to avoid any kind of fraud or ID theft. Teacher: Barb Miller of Senior Medicare Patrol Barb Miller retired from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield where she held positions in sales and sales management. That's where she first became aware of medical fraud. When the opportunity presented itself to educate people about Medicare fraud for Indiana Senior Medicare Patrol, it seemed like a perfect fit. Barb has also worked for the Office of the Attorney General, educating Hoosiers about scams and fraud of all types. In addition, she has been involved as a volunteer with many community non-profit organizations, including The Community Foundation, The Greenwood Library, the Humane Society, Youth Connections, The Historic Artcraft Theatre, Girls Inc., and Dancing with the Johnson County Stars. Barb lives in Johnson County with her husband John and several spoiled pets.
